6 Hair Care Tips After a Keratin Treatment

Keratin.png

Even though the truth is hard, there's no point in making it sound better.

It doesn't matter if you get a keratin blowout at a salon, at home, or in a hurry.
Your keratin touch-up can only last for so long.

So, if you want to get the most out of your keratin treatment, take good care of your kera-hair after the treatment.

Luckily, extending the life of your treatment is easier than you might think.

Let's start right away.

Right after the keratin treatment: How to Care Your Hair.

Tip 1: How soon after a keratin treatment should you wash your hair?

Keratin needs to settle into your hair cuticle well, so don’t wash it off right after the treatment. Give it time to do its kera-magic.

How long? It all depends on the type of treatment:

After an express keratin blowout: You can wash your hair
the same day. But if you don't have to wash it right away, wait at least 24 hours.

Tip 2: No kinking

If you twist and twirl your hair right after getting a
keratin treatment, it will leave... a lasting impression.

So for a few days after your kera-session, stay clear from any of the below:

Hair clips
Braids
Up-dos using bands or clips

No ponytails or scrunches, either.

Also, when you go to bed, let your hair down.

Tip 3: Use a Soft pillowcase.

Sounds strange?
There is a "scientific reason" why people switch from cotton to silk.

Silk is a fibre that is much smoother. When you sleep on a silk pillowcase, there will be less friction between your hair and the pillowcase.

Less friction means less damage & frizz for your hair.

Tip 4: Use a shower cap & wash your hair as seldom as possible.
In general, keratin will keep your hair smooth and free of frizz for longer if you don't wash it as often.

In other words, you should become best friends with your shower cap.

Use it any time you need to jump in for a quick shower but don’t need to wash your hair.

Your treatment with Keratin will last a lot longer.

During the rest of the day, don't wet your hair. You might ask, "Which ones?"

After you work out, you'll look stunning.

Your hair might feel dry, but if you sweated on the rest of your body, it's likely that you also sweated on your scalp.

So, if you want to look like a pro, make sure you blow-dry your hair after you work out.

Tip 5: Choose shampoo and conditioner that do not have salt or sulphates.

The keratin in your hair will be stripped away by the sulphates and salt in shampoos.

That's why it's important to use a shampoo without sodium chloride after getting keratin in your hair.

Tip 6: Find the right balance between protein and water.

After a keratin treatment, your hair will be full of protein, but it will have a lot less moisture than it did before. It's time to make up for that.

First, every time you style your hair, use a good leave-in conditioner. It will nourish, fix, and protect
the hair from heat damage.

Second, use a hair mask once a week to treat your hair deeply.

Your go-to mask should have a good amount of plant protein, amino acids, and keratin to rehydrate and nourish your hair in between keratin treatments.
